The Product
Most silk pillowcases on the market are either polyester satin labelled as silk, or genuine silk at a lower grade and momme weight. Orlisse uses Grade 6A mulberry silk - the highest quality grade available at 22 momme weight whilst other brands are using 16 or 19. It is also OEKO-TEX certified, meaning independently tested and verified free from harmful substances.
Silk is graded from 1A to 6A based on uniformity, length and quality of the silk filaments. 6A is the highest grade available - longer, more uniform filaments producing a smoother more durable fabric than lower grades. Most budget silk pillowcases use 3A or 4A grade silk.
Momme is the unit of measurement for silk weight. 22 momme is the sweet spot - heavy enough to be durable and long lasting, light enough to feel luxurious and smooth. Lower momme weights are thinner, less durable and less effective at reducing friction.
100% real mulberry silk. Not polyester satin, not blended silk, not silk-feel fabric. Real silk has a specific weight and slip that polyester satin cannot replicate. You will feel the difference immediately when you open the package.
OEKO-TEX is an independent certification body testing textiles for over 100 harmful substances. OEKO-TEX certified means independently tested and verified safe - not just claimed by the brand. This matters for a product spending 8 hours in contact with your face and hair every night.

Yes. Silk is naturally hypoallergenic and temperature regulating. OEKO-TEX certified and free from irritants. Many customers with eczema, rosacea and sensitive skin report improved comfort after switching.
Hair & Skin Benefits
Cotton creates friction against your hair every time you move in your sleep. You move 40 to 60 times per night - thousands of micro-frictions pulling at every strand over 8 hours. Silk has a smooth flat fibre structure your hair glides across with zero friction. Most customers notice less hair on their pillow within the first week.
Cotton is absorbent by design. When your face rests on a cotton pillowcase overnight up to 40% of your skincare gets absorbed into the cotton rather than staying on your skin. Silk is non-absorbent. Everything you apply stays on your face overnight where it can actually work.
Yes - particularly one-sided breakouts. Cotton pillowcases harbour bacteria and introduce it to your skin barrier over 8 hours every night. Silk does not absorb or harbour bacteria the way cotton does. Many customers report significant improvement in breakouts within 2 to 3 weeks of switching.
Yes. Benefits apply to all hair types - fine, thick, curly, straight, colour treated, natural, relaxed. Particularly noticeable for curly and natural hair where cotton causes the most damage through frizz and disruption of the curl pattern.
Most customers notice something on night one - hair feels smoother and fewer strands on the pillow. Skin benefits typically visible within 2 to 3 weeks. Hair strength improvements take 4 to 6 weeks as new growth comes in stronger
Care & Washing
30 degree delicate or silk cycle. Mild detergent - avoid bleach, enzyme-based detergents or fabric softener. Turn inside out before washing. Air dry flat away from direct sunlight. Iron on lowest setting on reverse side if needed.
Every 1 to 2 weeks. Having two pillowcases means you always have a clean one ready - which is why the 2-pack is our most popular option.
With proper care a Grade 6A 22 momme silk pillowcase should last 3 to 5+years with regular use and washing ( but can be even longer with proper care)
